Faith and Church Events

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints living in the Kansas City area right now is such a miraculous time. Over the past couple of years we have had the opportunity to watch the construction of a temple.

Now the temple is built. The open house was a success. Thousands of people came through the doors of the temple and experienced the love and joy the inside of a temple brings. People traveled from all across the United States and even from a few other countries. It truly was a magnificent time.

The temple was dedicated on May 6th,  2012.

The Prophet of the church, President Thomas S. Monson came to the Kansas City area to dedicate this magnificent building as a Holy place, the House of the Lord. The night before the dedication there was a cultural celebration held where the youth of the church came together, after months of practicing, to share the different cultures of this area. The celebration was so well done, the youth are so talented and full of such happiness. It was a night of laughter, tears, and love!

On the morning of May 6th, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Kansas City Missouri area woke up, heard the thunder as the rain came pouring down and prepared for the most beautiful day. The day that our temple would be dedicated. This day, this moment was a moment we had been waiting for so long. On Tuesday, May 8th the temple doors were opened again and work could begin. The most joyous time had begun. Now we have a temple and it is our duty to attend and work and grow there.

“Make whatever sacrifices are necessary to attend the temple and to have the
spirit of the temple in your hearts and homes.”
- President Thomas S. Monson

I feel so blessed to have had this wonderful opportunity and experience in my life! There is so much more to come and so many blessings promised.
